We Lost a Good Friend in Sherri Norton

November 6, 2011

It is with the greatest sadness that we must report that Sherri will not win this, her most important battle on a bicycle.

Sherri was a beam of light to many of us and will remain the beautiful person we knew; living on in our hearts and minds – an angel to watch over us all!

Our deepest sympathy to Mark – we can only imagine the emptiness you must feel and hope that you find peace and warmth in your family & friends.

    Dear Mark,
I am so sorry for your loss. I often ride Santiago Canyon, and I know the passion and faith that lies within to ‘ride’. I pray for you and your family during this time.
    My sincere condolences.

Mark, my heart goes out to you. What an incredible tragedy. I can’t imagine what you’re going through right now. You will remain in my thoughts and prayers.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Mark and his family as they mourn the loss of Sherri. I pray for our Father’s presence to be with Mark and his family as a comfort and a reminder that Sherri is now with our Father.

Mark, my heart goes out to you. Sherri blessed us with her joy for life and living every day as a gift from God. I still remember when she came into your life and you two were married. Hold strong to those precious memories and know that God has reasons we cannot understand. His promises will hold fast and true. “For I know the thoughts I have for you, thoughts of peace and not of evil,to give you a future and a hope.”(Jer.29:11)You know that God is concerned with the end result, eternity with Him. I know you miss and love her…how beautiful that Sherri has moved from the arms of your love and landed in the arms of God’s eternal love. You have been a special light in her life Mark and she shall be dearly missed. But, as you so bravely announced, may we celebrate with eternity in view the joy of Sherri going home to her Lord and Savior. May the Lord bless you and keep you in His care! Joan

I am very sorry to hear about this. Although I never met Sherri I too cycle as does my husband. Whenever something like this happens we all feel it and mourn. I work in the legal field and far too often I see cases involving cars and cyclists. Always tragic. My heartfelt condolences to Sherri’s husband and family.

I’m a Team Velocity member, and I know I speak for our whole club when I express my sympathy to Mark and my sense of loss. Sherri often rode with us on our Sunday rides, and she was always waving and/or saying “Hi” when I’d see her out on the road. I’ll be thinking often of her as I ride, sad to think that I won’t get to see her again.

John thank you for the comments and kind words…

We welcome any and all beneficial actions, whether helping to mentor a child on safe cycling or donations toward organizations such as the one you mentioned (http://yieldtolife.org/tips/cyclists)… even those that promote exclusive paths for cycling & pedestrians… awareness programs are always welcome.

I’m very sorry to hear this. I was really hoping she would pull through. I didn’t know Sherri but I ride a lot and I have found myself searching for updates on her condition the past few days for some reason. My thoughts are with her family and friends. I think I will go for a ride, reflect about life and perhaps make a donation of support to Yield for Life in her honor. My sincere condolences.
