Regular Training Rides

  • McGaw

  • Tuesday evenings, Dec-March.  The McGaw training ride has been going on for more than 10 years. Actual ride time from 6:00pm till 7:00pm.  For those who can arrive early there is a 1 hr warm-up ride leaving at 5:00pm sharp.  The warm-up ride will do a loop through Turtle Rock and back to the start.  6pm training ride will consist of small ring pace-line work to start and will transition to the big-ring and gain in speed.  This is a great ride for beginner racers and will help everyone get a little leg speed and crit simulation.

Start location is at the corner of Pullman St. and McGaw Ave. in Irvine.  This is where McGaw Ave. dead-ends near the 55 Fwy.  See map.
  • The Team Ride

  • Coffee Crew Ride

  • Como Street

    • Sundays at 8:00 at the Tustin Marketplace.  The route starts out along Irvine Blvd., then splits at Bake Pky.  The climbers turn left, others proceed to El Toro Rd.  From the latter group the choice is to ride to Dana Point or proceed to Santiago Canyon where often the ride regroups with the Bake group.  The finish takes place at the Cemetery at Chapman Rd in Orange.  Distance is about 35 miles.  In Dec-Jan there is often a fast group of hard core racers training for the upcoming season that leaves at 8:30.  This group goes through Trabuco Canyon before joining the Santiago Canyon route.

  • Food Park

    • Saturdays at 8:30 at the corner of Macarthur and Main or at 8:40 at the corner of Harvard and Main.  The route is about 30 miles and goes through Irvine to Alton, then follows Moulton to El Toro and then through Laguna Beach.  The route then turns north on PCH and finishes either with coffee on Balboa Island or with a climb up Newport Coast.  The group size is usually large and the riding style is fast and aggressive.
